Asymmetries may be missed by looking at common average montages

I have previously referred to some of the limitations of the common average montage. The following pages highlight this issue. It is far easier to see the differences between the 2 hemispheres on the bipolar montage.

The following demonstrates an asymmetry of the beta frequencies:

 

 

 The following demonstrates an asymmetry of frontal alpha frequencies and spindles (7th second):

 

Sleep:

 

 

The above page demonstrates the absence of spindles on the left.

 

 

The above demonstrates an asymmetry of the V-waves.

 

Collectively, the above findings demonstrate severe dysfunction of the left hemisphere.

 

PS: the paediatric neurologist reports an acute, large, ischaemic, right hemispheric stroke due to zoster.
